This article will show you how to: change the handing and install the standard oak handle set and use the keeper finder used on Hurd sliding patio doors from 1993 – 2006

Installation and Handing Instructions:
Tools required: Philips Screwdriver
Determine handing direction from exploded view below (XO or OX)
On the back side of the inside handle there is an “E” shaped guide locating the actuator lever. The actuator should be moved to one end. Align with the hub of the lock as shown in the detail.
Place the inside handle against door while inserting actuator into vertical slotted hub of mortise lock. Install two 8-32 x 2 1/2″* length screw for clad door provided through the inside handle to attach outside pull (and plastic shim on clad door). DO NOT USE POWER DRIVERS TO INSTALL HANDLE SCREWS!
To install Keeper Plate follow directions below.
Optional key cylinder: cut the tail piece to 3/4″ length.
*2 3/8″ length screw for wood exterior door
Keeper Installation Instructions:
Install hardware as shown above
Before installing the Keeper Plate hold the Keeper Locator Template in place against the mortise lock.
Close the door firmly, allowing the keeper locator template to make the location for the keeper screws in the side jamb.
Install the keeper with two #8 x 1 1/4″ screws and adjust to the proper height.
Adjust mortise lock hoot using a common paint screwdriver until the hook is properly extended. Close door. Lock door and check for excessive play. Readjust the hook until the door will lock snug.
